Tuấn H. Nguyễn, D.D.S.

Vice Chair – Public Relations

Dr. Tuan received his BS in Bio-Chemistry from UC Davis and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from UCLA. He is also a former student of Saigon Medical University.  Dr. Tuan runs his own practice (TM North Valley Dental Care) with over 13 years of experience in the field of dentistry, including family, aesthetic and implant dentistry. He is a member of California Dental Association (CDA) and American Dental Association (ADA). He is also a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and a Diplomat of American Dental Implant Association. 

Dr. Tuan writes about dentistry on Song Manh Magazine and Viet Tribune Weekly Newspaper.  He is also well known in the Vietnamese-American community for his generosity, both with his time and financial contribution to help nonprofit organizations in the Bay Area.  His dedication and love for his high school sweetheart of 35 years who lost her vision shortly after they fell in love have inspired many Vietnamese people, both young and old.  They have been happily married for 28 years, and have two children.

Tam Nguyen

Tâm Nguyen is the Director of Software Test Automation & Tools at Arlo Technologies. He is a software architect and engineering leader, specializing in software development and test automation. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC Berkeley and holds patents in video delivery and web development. He has also been teaching computer programming to middle school kids, helping to develop their interest in technology, in particular, and their love of learning, in general. He is a strong advocate of blended and online learning as a mean of delivering low cost and high quality education.

Trinh Do

Trinh is currently the Director of Data Management Operations at iTradeNetwork, a Supply Chain software company in Dublin, CA. He has over 25 years of experience in Consumer Product Marketing and Software development. Trinh received his B.S., M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California Irvine and his M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Trinh is a member of the IT Team and currently leads the efforts to migrate and adapt Salesforce as ICAN’s donor management system. He has also taught the very first session of the Strategies for Success Series, providing incoming freshmen with tips and insights on how to prepare to succeed in college.

Hung Truong

Hung presently leads the world-wide R&D organization for the Information Security Business Unit within Utimaco.

He has over 15 years of experience in leading global software engineering teams, serving among the world’s most prominent Telecom carriers and multi-national enterprises. Prior to joining the Utimaco family in November 2018, Hung was the VP of Engineering for the ArcSight business – the largest business in the Enterprise Security Products division at Hewlett Packard (HP). Prior to joining HP in June 2010, he was Senior Director of Product Development at Amdocs and was instrumental in helping double the revenue of the Customer Management business unit, securing its industry leadership position in CRM. As Director of Software Engineering at Lucent’s Network Operations Software Division, Hung led the global product development teams of the company’s award-winning Vital™ product line. Prior to working at Lucent Technologies, he spent a significant portion of his career at Nortel Networks in a variety of R&D and Product Management roles. In 2002, the Aberdeen Group recognized an initiative Hung had spearheaded as one of its 15 Top Offshore Software Outsourcing Best Practices.

Hung is a holder of a patent on Remote Wireless Network Management. He received his B.S., M.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Waterloo and his M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario, in Canada. Hung’s current office location is Campbell, California.

Quyen TietAdvisory Member

Quyen Tiet

Ph.D., Advisory Member

Dr. Tiet is a clinical psychologist, researcher, and professor. He received his education and training at UC Berkeley, CU Boulder, Yale University, and Columbia University. Previously he was an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, and then an Affiliate Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University for 15 years. Currently, he is a practicing licensed clinical psychologist, a researcher at the National Center for PTSD, Dissemination and Training Division at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and a full Professor at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. Dr. Tiet is also a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.

Betty Duong

Betty Duong leads the County of Santa Clara’s Office of Labor Standards Enforcement (OLSE) overseeing all operational aspects of the newly created office. Approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2017, County of Santa Clara OLSE is the seventh office in the nation to advance labor standards at the local government level.

Prior to leading OLSE, Betty Duong served as Budget and Policy Director to Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez. Duong took a personal leave of absence in 2016 to manage the successful Measure A $950 million housing bond campaign. Betty served as ICAN’s Community Engagement Coordinator in 2006, organizing ICAN’s inaugural Family Forum and now proudly serves as member of the ICAN’S Board of Advisors.

Duong received a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Davis – King Hall, School of Law, a Bachelor’s Degree in Asian American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a proud graduate of De Anza College. A lifelong resident of Santa Clara County, Betty currently resides in San Jose with her husband, Khai, their daughter, Harper, and dog, Bunny.

Hong Phuong

Mr. Hong Nguyen has been with ICAN for five years. During his time here, he has introduced the concept of project management, Agile approaches, and trained our staff, volunteers, and interns. He likes to empower people and teams to live the best life they can have by leading it where they want to go. He attended MIT, graduated from Harvard Business School, and has PMP, PSM, PSPM, and SAFe certifications. He is a veteran of Silicon High Tech, an active member at WeWork Labs, and a main partner to several entrepreneurs.

Quyen Dinh

Quyen is the Executive Director of the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC). Originally formed in 1979, SEARAC was founded by a group of American humanitarians as a direct response to the refugee crises arising throughout Southeast Asia as a result of U.S. military actions. Today, SEARAC is a civil rights organization that represents the largest refugee community ever resettled in America. It works to empower Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese American communities to create a socially just and equitable society through policy advocacy, advocacy capacity building, community engagement, and mobilization.

As Executive Director, Quyen has advocated for Southeast Asian Americans on key civil rights issues including education, immigration, criminal justice, health, and aging. Quyen has spoken widely about Southeast Asian American communities and has appeared in American RadioWorks, NBC, Public Radio International, and Voice of America. Under Quyen’s leadership, SEARAC has authored national legislation and passed California legislation calling for transparent, disaggregated data for the Asian American community. Quyen has also extended SEARAC’s coalition presence and leadership in other civil rights and social justice movements through her leadership roles with the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA), Detention Watch Network (DWN), the Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC), RISE for Boys and Men of Color, and Allies Reaching for Community Health Equity (ARCHE) Action Collaborative. Prior to SEARAC, she built lasting infrastructure for the International Children Assistance Network (ICAN) in San Jose, CA, serving Vietnamese immigrant parents, grandparents, and youth.

Born to Vietnamese refugees, Quyen identifies as a second-generation Vietnamese American. She holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley. Quyen was born in New Orleans, LA, and grew up in Orange County, CA, and San Jose. She currently resides with her husband in Washington, DC.

Dr. My-Hanh VuAdvisory Member

Dr. My-Hanh Vu

O.D, Advisory Member

Dr. My-Hanh Vu was born in Vietnam and grew up in Ohio. She received her undergraduate and doctorate degrees from The Ohio State University and has been a practicing optometrist for over 10 years. Dr. Vu integrates her extensive clinical experience in contact lenses and ocular disease management with exceptional and individualized patient care. She is the sole owner of her optometric clinic and has managed her practice for over 6 years. She dedicates her time to serving underprivileged communities by conducting weekly eye exams for OneSight charity as well as going on local and international missions with various humanitarian organizations. Dr. Vu is a member of the American Optometric Association as well as state and local optometric organizations.

Philanthropy and living a lifestyle of giving is a tenet that is near and dear to her heart. As a result, Dr. Vu has had a lifetime of volunteering with local church organizations, the Boys' and Girl's Club, rallying for social causes, and volunteering at food banks. Dr. Vu will be developing and administering the Youth Programs at ICAN and is thoroughly excited to make an impact with ICAN.

In her free time, Hanh enjoys traveling the world, hunting for architectural treasures, hiking, writing, painting, and going on exotic food adventures.

Mary Le

M.sc, Advisory Member

Mary Le is a thought leader in the areas of environment, health, safety, education, and career success. She knows how important giving a voice to those who may not have the opportunity to speak for themselves is and is passionate about empowering people to share personal financial education as a casual topic and having equal access to financial literacy and financial aid. Professionally, Mary has earned the trust and respect of her peers through her sound professional guidance and a proven track record of operational excellence in diverse industries such as semiconductors, high tech, biotech, healthcare, and post-education planning.

Alongside her professional career, Mary also volunteers and supports nonprofits, including ACWP and ICAN. She holds her Vietnamese culture close to her heart and has conducted seven missionary visits to rural Vietnam, supporting new school buildings, water filters, bridges, and vocational training culinary school for disadvantaged youth. Mary’s focus is raising and assisting the youth programs at ICAN and she currently also volunteers at ACWP. Mary has coordinated three fundraising events for ACWP’s educational and school programs. She has co-founded a youth group (YOMP), providing mentorship and college planning sessions for local high school students ensuring her community’s youth have the support they need for their future.
